Weigh-In Thursday: Week 32

I really expected more than just a 1.4 pound loss. Ever since I hit 45 pounds lost, I felt like I couldn't really loose much more. My body and my clothes (for that matter) was trying to keep me fat. And to think I (almost) gave up this week. Here are the reasons why I really wanted to 'throw in the towel':

  1. I was tired of tracking,
  2. I felt deprived of the 'bad' foods I wanted to eat.
  3. I was sick and had trouble keeping anything down.
  4. I was sabotaging myself.
I went threw my closet this week and purged everything that was either 2+ sizes too big, or simply not fashion able. This made me think that maybe I should stop losing weight so that I could fit into the clothes that I already owned (talk about self-sabotage) even though it was starting to be a hassle because all of my cure clothes are either too big (at least now they are) or too small (wishful thinking).

If it wasn't for my amazingly supportive boyfriend I would have cancelled my membership and given up altogether. He is the best because even when I am feeling weak and like I am done with everything; he believes in me. He believes in how far I have come and he knows that I am just looking for any reason to give up. I love him so much for being my 'realistic rock' and not letting me give up because I have been hosting a pity party for myself. He believes in me, even when I don't believe in myself.

I have decided that I needed to start over. After my meeting concluded this week I attended a "new member meeting" which I really needed. I am starting fresh with the plan hoping to overcome this everlasting weight loss plateau and to overcome even my own expectations. Here is to a new week and a re commitment to the plan. I will not let small 'missteps' determine my future success. I got this! My next mini goal is to reach 45 pounds lost (again).

October 2015 Progress Post

279 pounds                                                                                            261.6 pounds
Can you see the difference from July? I can. My muffin top is definitely shrinking and I can also see it in my arms do the the shifting positions of my tattoos as well as in the elbow crease area. I am thinking about adding a picture to my line up next week for progress. You know the one with the 'guns' out? Although it would not be to measure how  large my biceps are growing, yet. It would be photo evidence of how my 'wings' are shrinking. This is because as my clothes are getting larger I am starting to notice that I have more room in the arms of my shirts and that is very encouraging and kind of annoying. Man, sleeves really move around alot when it is not stretched to the max in order to contain all the excess fat you have in your arms.

Here are the measurement updates for this month. There is definitely some progress to be had in the last month. This is promising due to midterms and the gains that I have had after hitting my 45 pound lost goal before Halloween. For some reason that seems to be my modus operandi (M.O.) for this weight loss journey. Hit my next mini-goal, which is super exciting, until it is followed up by a few weeks of gains. However the inches lost this month was a total of 5'' overall. I am also officially in a size 20 in pants. That is even without having to squeeze into them too!

I should also warn you that the pictures may not be truly accurate due to the fact that my phone went swimming, and that forced me to get a new one. The camera is much better quality, as evident in the October pictures. That is both a blessing and a curse. The pictures are crisper and with crisper pictures comes more detail. I guess that also means that the losses will be more evident. (I hope!)

I am excited to see the progress around my midsection. That is where is is most evident. It was also the area in which I lost 2'' in the past month. I am so excited about that because that is one of the areas that I guess I would consider to be my 'problem areas'. My midsection and my flabby arms; and even those don't bother me as much as they used to. Slowly and surely they will go down. This I know and I am looking forward to more progress in the future.

It is really evident that I was wearing a more supportive bra this month. I'll have to remember that for next month so there is no more 'saggy boobs'. HA! It is hard to really see a true difference in this one due to the angle in which these two pictures were taken. I see it most in the arms and my chin and maybe a little in the calf, but that might me a bit of a stretch.

I feel like there is not as much progress, if any, in this picture. In all reality I am just wearing a smaller tank top that really 'hugs' everything. Although I can see that the 'elbow' crease is almost gone and my 'back boobs' are definitely shrinking. That's the silver lining. My Thanksgiving goal is to reach 50 pounds lost. I guess its time to workout in the A.M. and take my dog for walks in the evening, as long as it is not too dark. Here is to another month of progress!

Weigh-In Thursday: Week 31

Another gain this week and I can't say I'm really that surprised. I kind of want to consider this a plateau, even though it is really just me slipping from staying on plan. I ate a lot of things I shouldn't have, in greater amounts, and without tracking it. If that isn't a recipe for disaster than I don't know what is.

I tried a little harder this week, but then the weekend came and went. I guess I didn't try as hard as I thought I did. I am happy with the small gain, not even 1/2 a pound. I am still in midterms and the stress has not helped much. I am done making excuses it is time to own up to my actions and keep on trucking. I can do this! Here is to a better week next week! I only have one more midterm to complete and then I am done with the 'hard' stuff until end of November beginning of December. Time to get back on track.

Weigh-In Thursday: Week 30

Well, I had a hell of a week this week. Midterms are getting the best of me. I mean if I wasn't such a procrastinator then I suppose I wouldn't have such an issue. However, it seems like if I don't have a deadline then I can't do my best work.

This week I was really excited about only gaining 0.8 of a pound. I actually expected so much more because I really suffered from some monster carb cravings. I could blame 'Aunt Flow' for that, but really it is just an excuse. I was the one who stayed up until the wee hours of the morning and I was the one that ate practically all the carbs in the house. And washed the carbs down with a bowl of cereal. I really love cereal. I guess its time that I add cereal to my list of willpower kryptonite. My goal for the upcoming week is to get the 'cereal monster' in me tamed.

Here's to another 'maintenance week' since I have another midterm due this week and one due the week after. This is only a small set back, but I shouldn't let a small setback push me off my journey. I will continue.

Weigh-In Thursday: Week 29

I am super excited! Finally after all this hard work I have reached my next mini-goal! When I joined Weight Watchers on Saint Patrick's day 2015 I set a mini-goal for myself to reach 45 pounds lost by Halloween. In the beginning I considered this a "stretch goal" because I really thought that this was not something that I could have achieved in this time period. After I lost my first 15 pounds in May it seemed like losing another 30 pounds in 5 months was actually an achievable goal. It was even more in my grasp when I hit 30 pounds lost in week July I 15 pounds in 3 months seems like a cake walk.

I don't think I factored in the toll that going back to school would have on my motivation. The super late night homework sessions (or I guess early morning because 3 AM is not technically night) and the cravings that came with it. Let alone the lack of will power when you are trying to eat to stay awake. There is something about hitting after midnight that your body simply refuses to eat healthy. I know, I know, I am making excuses. I also know myself and am getting ready for midterms coming up and kind of expecting a gain. My goal is to get through midterms maintaining my current weight or at least not gaining more than a pound. Only time will tell. I did it I reached my Halloween goal 2 weeks early and I am so excited about that! Here is to maintaining through midterms. Gotta love college life!

Weigh-In Thursday: Week 28

I did it! I finally beat my weight loss plateau (kind of)! I have really been focused on eating and I feel really good about the work that I have been completing. I hope that I will complete my mini goal of 45 pounds lost by Halloween! That is because Halloween is my favorite holiday and I really enjoy dressing up. Even if that means I am only using my costume to go trick-or-treating. I am totally okay with that!

I know that midterms are on the horizon in the next couple of weeks and midterms are my willpower kryptonite. I mean since I am a procrastinator I have an affinity for completing papers at the last possible moment. This is where Weight Watchers fails me; because I allow it to fail me. Especially due to the fact that I use midterms as an excuse to be up late; which in turn becomes my excuse to not complete anything before the time in which it is due. I am determined to hit my 45 pound loss before Halloween ( I hope); however Halloween is my mini goal for 45 pounds lost. I can do this!

Reflections from My Last Weigh In

After my weigh in last week I have been contemplating the current status of things. Trying to figure out where I went wrong or what I could do to improve this week. After Week 27 Issues happened I seriously considered giving up. I mean, I followed plan to a tee and added in more activity. How could I have failed?

I got home from my meeting on Thursday and just cried. Actually I was bawling uncontrollably. I had failed miserably. I know, I shouldn't let one week ruin all the progress I have made. I mean I have lost 42 pounds so far so I much have been doing something right. I was just crushed. I lost ZERO pounds. I mean, I didn't lose any weight, but I also did not gain any weight either. That has to count for something.

Here is where I turned this 'failure' into a victory. A non-scale victories:
  1. I stayed for the whole meeting, even though I seriously wanted to walk out.
  2. I didn't turn to food when I got home in order to heal my emotional wounds.
  3. I kept tracking, even though the voice in my head was telling me not to care.
  4. I looked back at the week's progress reports to see where I could improve.
  5. I DID NOT GIVE UP!
Looking over the progress reports online (which are available to etools subscribers) is where I think I was able to pinpoint where I went wrong this week. I looked at both the week on its own and the month as a whole. I realized that in my effort to "follow plan" last week I did too good of a job. Everyday last week I had points left over for the day and not just like 3 or less.

The points leftover ranged from 8-17 points. That is ALOT of points to leave and not eat. Especially when Weight Watchers gives you a certain number of points to eat everyday for a reason. I concluded that although I was exercising I was not eating enough to really fuel my body. Especially since I was exercising almost daily. I also found and interesting trend that showed the weeks that I did not use my weekly points were shown to be either a small gain, or staying the same. I guess I just need to accept the fact that I am smack dab in the middle of a plateau and that eventually I will get through it as long as I don't give up. I mean look at how far I have come since I joined Weight Watchers.

This week I plan to make sure all my points will be used each day. I also plan to start back working out starting tomorrow at 5 AM. I can get through this. I WILL get through this. I will not let one setback ruin all the progress I have made. This is a process and I am learning so much about myself on this journey.

Weigh-In Thursday: Week 27

I found this image online and the quote was exactly what I needed this week. There were a few extenuating circumstances that happened this week which was out of my control. Everything happened today as well. It started out as a great day. Class was canceled so I got to spend some more time with my son before school.

I was feeling good because I got up at 5 am everyday this week and worked out. The energy difference is amazing and I will attribute that to a combination of working out, my CPAP machine, and eating the right foods to stay on track. In fact I was feeling amazing and super excited for my meeting tonight. I was doing everything right and I knew my weight would be down.

Then, my phone decided to go swimming in the toilet. That is also the reason that I do not have a screenshot of my weigh in for this blog post. My phone was dead, literally. I jumped online and printed out my monthly pass and headed to my meeting sans phone. That was no problem though because I had lost weight this week. I mean how could I not have. I never went over my points, I didn't use more than half of my weekly Points Plus allowance, I didn't use any of the activity points I earned this week. I worked out before school and even got off the bus at the first campus stop so I had to walk farther to get to class.

I parked and basically skipped into my Weight Watchers meeting even though I was a bit late due to phone issues. I got on the scale and waited patiently for the receptionist to tell me how much I lost. I lost NOTHING! I asked her to weight me again because that couldn't be right, could it? It was. I had lost nothing I weighed exactly the same as I had last week. The news was crushing, I did everything I could to not break down right their but inside, I was sobbing. I went into the meeting room and took a seat in the back, instead of my usual seat. I was still in shock. If I had done everything right then how did it not show on the scale?

I don't really remember the meeting much because I spent most of it going over my week in my head. After the meeting I talked to my leader because I was just so frustrated. She reassured me that this was part of the process, and that at least I had not gained either. She said that maybe all the work I did this week would show up on the scale next week. I hope that will be the case, but I really just want to give up. However I have come so far and I can't give up now. I have to get through this. Here is to a better week.
