Weigh-In Saturday: Week 52

Wow! I can't believe I have been doing Weight Watchers for an entire year. So much has changed over the last year and I am down a total of 65.2 pounds. I feel fantastic and I am so excited to where this next year takes me. I never thought that a decision I made would have ever impacted my life in the way that it has or that I would have stuck with something for an entire year. If I can make it an entire year of Weight Watchers then I surely can make it a lifetime change. The meetings have been what has kept me on track. If I was only an online member I don't think I would have been as successful as I have been. This is due to the fact that over the course of me

Weigh-In Saturday: Week 40

Merry Christmas! I have officially been with Weight Watchers for 10 months. I am super excited to reach this milestone because this is the longest that I have been able to stay on track and keep moving forward in this weight loss journey. It is also the most amount of time that I have kept up my blog. Sure I may be a week behind in posting, but at least I have not given up. I do know that this blog really keeps me sane and I find that the more I do it, the more it is easier to keep motivated and focused on my goal.
That being said, I am currently on vacation. My boyfriend and I are spending the holiday at my Moms' house in the city of sin. Well, actually we are in Henderson, Nevada, but you could practically throw a rock and hit the Las Vegas Strip from here. I also attended a Weight Watchers meeting here this morning and am pleased to announce that I lost 1.2 pounds over Christmas!!! I could not believe it! I even had a donut and a few beers on Christmas Eve! Yes, I did say donuts and beer. Ha! I mean it was the holidays and all.
Tomorrow we are driving out to Los Angeles for a few days. I am looking forward to some sightseeing and putting my feet in the ocean. Also, my boyfriend and I have the golf clubs in the trunk so that we can go golfing in the nice 65 degree California weather. There will be plenty of walking and loads of fresh seafood. I plan on tracking everything that I eat even if I go over my points, I am just going to enjoy my vacation and make sure that I am making healthier choices.

This weeks meeting we talked about planning for the holidays. My plan is just to try to enjoy the holidays, making healthy choices and I will be fine with whatever the scale says next week. Even if it is a gain because I have a week before spring semester starts that I can get back on track.

Weigh-In Thursday: Week 38

My last final is due tomorrow. I am so excited to be one step closer to getting my bachelor's degree! I have been running on no sleep and a coffee I.V. (those exist right?) That's what I get for being a procrastinator. Oh well, I only have one semester left and it is too late to change my ways now.

Since I have been staying up late writing papers and working on finals my eating schedule has bee all bonkers. I have also been eating crap like sugary cereal and chips at 2 am in order to keep myself awake. I really expected to gain at least 2 pounds this week. I am determined to get back on track and also this week I have been tracking everything that I have been eating even if that means going into the negative for my points. It is only one week and I have been through this before. It will pass and I will get back on track.

Our meeting this week was about the changes to Weight Watchers. They are changing from Points Plus to Beyond the Scale. I am kind of excited about the changes. The biggest differences are that the point values for lean protein has dropped, sugar is now part of the equation (sad face), and you no longer swap out your activity for food. I am glad this happened the week after finals so that I have time to really get into the changes to the plan. I am determined to get back on track and reach my 50 pound weight loss goal by Christmas. That is a doable goal and only 2.4 pounds away from my current weight.

Weigh-In Thursday: Week 37

I am so close to my 50 pounds lost goal that I can taste it. Ha! Nice pun huh? Actually, I am really really excited about being so close. However, I know myself and I have a feeling that next week I will see a gain. This is due to the fact that I am going into finals week. Which means little sleep, lots of late nights, lots of coffee, and the late night snacking to keep myself awake.

It is okay though because after next week I will be done with fall semester. One semester left and I will have my Bachelors Degree. It is only one week and as long as I get back on track after finals everything will be okay. As long as I don't let it derail me, then I will call that a non-scale victory.

This weeks meeting was focused on getting in activity anywhere. Especially over the holidays. I made an action plan on how to get in activity over Christmas. My boyfriend and I will be going to Las Vegas for Christmas and we plan on doing quite a bit of walking on the strip. We will also be spending a few days in Los Angeles which means more walking and maybe even a golf excursion. Fingers crossed.

Apparently, Weight Watchers is making a huge plan change that will start next week. I am a little nervous because I feel like I have this plan down pat. However, since I have been so close to hitting my 50 pounds lost goal and maybe the changes will allow for that.

Reflections from My Last Weigh In

After my weigh in last week I have been contemplating the current status of things. Trying to figure out where I went wrong or what I could do to improve this week. After Week 27 Issues happened I seriously considered giving up. I mean, I followed plan to a tee and added in more activity. How could I have failed?

I got home from my meeting on Thursday and just cried. Actually I was bawling uncontrollably. I had failed miserably. I know, I shouldn't let one week ruin all the progress I have made. I mean I have lost 42 pounds so far so I much have been doing something right. I was just crushed. I lost ZERO pounds. I mean, I didn't lose any weight, but I also did not gain any weight either. That has to count for something.

Here is where I turned this 'failure' into a victory. A non-scale victories:
  1. I stayed for the whole meeting, even though I seriously wanted to walk out.
  2. I didn't turn to food when I got home in order to heal my emotional wounds.
  3. I kept tracking, even though the voice in my head was telling me not to care.
  4. I looked back at the week's progress reports to see where I could improve.
  5. I DID NOT GIVE UP!
Looking over the progress reports online (which are available to etools subscribers) is where I think I was able to pinpoint where I went wrong this week. I looked at both the week on its own and the month as a whole. I realized that in my effort to "follow plan" last week I did too good of a job. Everyday last week I had points left over for the day and not just like 3 or less.

The points leftover ranged from 8-17 points. That is ALOT of points to leave and not eat. Especially when Weight Watchers gives you a certain number of points to eat everyday for a reason. I concluded that although I was exercising I was not eating enough to really fuel my body. Especially since I was exercising almost daily. I also found and interesting trend that showed the weeks that I did not use my weekly points were shown to be either a small gain, or staying the same. I guess I just need to accept the fact that I am smack dab in the middle of a plateau and that eventually I will get through it as long as I don't give up. I mean look at how far I have come since I joined Weight Watchers.

This week I plan to make sure all my points will be used each day. I also plan to start back working out starting tomorrow at 5 AM. I can get through this. I WILL get through this. I will not let one setback ruin all the progress I have made. This is a process and I am learning so much about myself on this journey.

One Month Does Make A Difference

After this weeks Weigh-In and camping struggles I was feeling a little deflated. I realized that it has been a month since I took progress pictures. I know, I never posted any progress pictures. That is a scary thing. Telling my exact weight to the world is much less scary as actually putting pictures of myself out there. Full body pictures that I am not exactly happy about because I am not exactly happy about the truth. Pictures cannot lie, but I think I am strong enough to post them now. I also plan on taking pictures once a month so that I can see my progress even if the scale says there isn't any progress.

I took the first pictures on Week 16 of this journey after reaching my 10% goal and dropping 30 pounds. I realized when I took them, or rather, my boyfriend took them, so I am blaming him for the blinking. HA! I did not take pictures when I started Weight watchers. There was nothing to compare them to. Dang! I think I did not take starting pictures because part of me was not expecting to lose weight like I have. I also never took measurements, however I plan on taking them in the next few days and updating them bimonthly or monthly.

I was actually surprised when I put the two pictures together. I was not expecting to see much of a difference because there was really only an 8 pound difference between the two pictures. This really gets to me when I think about the progress that would have been evident if only I had taken pictures at the beginning of my journey. I am excited to see my progress in pictures since I am still having a hard time seeing my progress in the mirror. I can feel a difference, and I notice the smaller sized clothing is starting to fit better. The mirror just was not reflecting my loss in the same way as those around me can see it. Just more motivation right! I got this!

Weigh-In Thursday: Week 14

Slowly and surely wins the race. Every pound counts! I have been getting super excited about losing this weight. I have been monitoring and tracking everything that I have been eating and drinking. Tracking has become almost second nature to me now. It is just something that I do and everyone in my life has been a huge supporter. Even if it means I can't eat everything I would sometimes like to and my boyfriend has more patience and helps me pick out something "healthier" to eat when we do go out. Even if it takes me way to much time to get through the menu and decide what to eat. That has been amazing and I love having someone who supports my efforts 100% like he does.

Here I am.
Looking onward to my 30 pound lost goal that is a mere 1.8 pounds away. I can so do this! I also had to go buy some clothes today and everything I bought was a 2X. Even the Shirt!!! I don't remember the
last time I fit into a ladies 2X shirt. And yes I say ladies sized 2X because the sizing is different between ladies and men's 2X and a men's 2X is larger. Maybe that means I can fit into a men's XL. There was even some give to it because is was not tight as can be. This is a huge non-scale victory for me! The only downside is that I cannot see a difference and that is disheartening. If I can fit into smaller clothes comfortably and the people around me say they can see a difference. Why can't I? So frustrating. This quote was an inspiration! I guess this means that it is time to take some more pictures so that I can see the difference. I plan on doing that sometime this weekend. I also plan on taking my measurements every week from now on in order for me to better document my journey.
