Weigh-In Thursday: Week 51

All the buckling down really paid off this week! I was down 4.6 pounds!!! That is just crazy because that was what I was losing when I started weight watchers almost 1 year ago. I hit my mini goal of 65 pounds lost and am 1.4 pounds away from my weight watchers anniversary goal of 240 pounds. My next mini-goal is to hit the big 70 lost! I will get there slowly but surely.

This weeks meeting topic was about scheduling your meals. When you schedule you meals, or at least eat at approximately the same time everyday you are less likely to be taken off course by something that comes up. It also makes sure that you are eating in normal intervals ensure that you will eat before you get overly hungry. This is something that I struggle with. I mean, I eat dinner at around 5-530 when I am at home. When I am not at home I struggle with keeping a consistent eating schedule. This is something I am going to start to focus on and see how it goes.

Weigh-In Thursday: Week 50

I am two weeks away from my weight watchers anniversary. This journey has been exciting, frustrating, and worth it all at the same time. I gained a little this week, but that is okay. I mean, it was not a large gain and I have been eating more than I would normally. Spring break is coming up and I am worried that I will go off the rails. I have been stress eating this week thinking about how the semester is coming to an end. If I can tough it out I will have a nice shiny Bachelors degree at the end. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

This weeks meeting topic was about finding your fit. It was about getting out and getting moving. By rediscovering something that you used to enjoy to by trying something new. My goal is to continue with Zombie Run 5k Training. It totally gets me to run and allows me to geek out at the same time!

Weigh-In Thursday: Week 49

Wow, I was not expecting that loss! I mean I have been working harder lately to hit my next mini-goal of 60 pounds lost. I thought for sure I would have one more week of gaining before that happened. Don't get me wrong I am extremely excited that I hit it. I wanted to jump for joy, but chose not too even though everyone who attends the Weight Watchers meeting with me would have been perfectly fine with that response. Hey there might have been a few people that would join me!

I forgot to grab a screenshot of the weigh in, but that it okay. I lost as much as a Newborn Holstein calf weighs. That is completely ridiculous and at the same time very very exciting. I am almost to my one year mark and I would like to be under 240 pounds by that time. However, if it takes me a week or two more then that is okay too. I am feeling good and I know the program only works if you work it. My next mini goal is to hit 65 pounds lost.

Weigh-In Thursday: Week 48

Well at least I lost this week. Even though it wasn't the big loss that I was hoping for to reach my mini-goal of losing 60 pounds. At least I am going in the right direction. Although it is kind of frustrating to know that I weigh the same as I did two weeks ago. Dang, if only I didn't gain last week. Oh well, it is not like there is anything I can do about it now. I am just happy to get back to seeing that scale go down. I am not 1.4 pounds away from my next min-goal. However, knowing how my journey has gone so far I see another gain in my near future. It tends to happen when I get close. I gain and gain, not much just a little, and then BAM! I drop a bigger amount to hit my goal and then some. It is kind of frustrating because I would much rather see consistent losses.

This weeks meeting topic was about loving yourself. It focused on giving yourself the attention and care that you deserve. We typically put others before ourselves and this causes us to forget about taking any "me time." This is important because when we take care of ourselves and make time for us we in turn are able to better take care of the others in our lives.

Weigh-In Thursday: Week 47

Wow look at that I gained again this week. I know only 0.2 pounds really isn't much of a gain. That is what I would consider water weight. Especially with all of the crackers that I have been eating. I don't know what it is but I have been a carb-a-holic lately. I haven't been trying as hard to stay on plan and this is something that I am trying to overcome again. It seems like the closer I get to my one year weight watchers anniversary I am not as motivated to continue. Weight loss is hard and it is something that you have to work at everyday. Even when you don't want to. I have to remind myself this everyday especially now when I know that I am likely to falter.

The topic of this weeks meeting was about treating yourself. It focused on taking time for yourself and to treat yourself with non-food treats. It defeats the purpose of weight loss if you lose weight and then go out and eat those donuts to celebrate your recent weight loss.

Weigh-In Thursday: Week 46

Hey look I gained this week. That has been how my journey has progressed thus far. Especially when I am close to a number that ends in a zero. It has just been pretty discouraging. This is something that I am still battling. I know the scale should not dictate my emotions because that is not the only measure of my progress. It is just hard to be working so had and doing things right and to not see the scale move in the direction that I want it to.

I also know that I tend to lose 3-4 pounds and then gain 0.1 - 1 pound for the next couple of weeks before I drop 3-4 pounds. That seems to be how my body is reacting to this weight loss. It could be water weight or a muscle gain, but that doesn't mean that it is any less frustrating. I am still moving towards my goal of being out of the 240's by my birthday. I just need to hunker down and follow the plan.

This weeks meeting was about eating out. The main focus was on ways in which we can make good choices when we are dining out. Keep portion sizes under control. When dining out avoid things at are labeled: sauteed, au gratin, battered, tempura, hollandaise, pan-fried, or crispy. These terms typically mean buttery, breaded, fats, or cheesy.

Weigh-In Thursday: Week 45

I am so excited that I could literally jump for joy! I finally hit my goal of being under 250 pounds!!!! This is a huge achievement for me and I really plan on sticking with it! I am excited to see where this journey will continue to take me! My next mini goal is to hit my 60 pounds lost mark and then to get my weigh down under 240. My next big goal is to get to onederland. I am planning on stepping up my game and fitting in more activity in my everyday routine.

This weeks meeting was on point with my goal. To fit in more activity in my everyday life. It was about getting more activity in no matter your schedule. You can even do something when you are stuck sitting down for periods of time.

Weigh-In Thursday: Week 44

I experienced another loss this week and although I am disappointed in the amount I am trying to look on the bright side. I am approximately one pound away from my next mini goal of being under 250 pounds. I am so close. Looks like I need to step it up this upcoming week in order to hit that mini goal. I do not remember the last time I was under 250 pounds. I have probably been around 250 pounds since maybe high school. That was a normal weight for me and I accepted it. Now I am working hard to change that and to keep going. Two hundred and fifty pounds will no longer be a normal weight for me. I am excited to see where this journey ends up.                                                                                                                                                                         This week's meeting was about believing in order to achieve your goals. It was about changing your attitude and how your thinking. Making small changes for positive thinking that will help you and not hinder you in achieving success. So you gained one week, no big deal, look how far you have come. This is some thing that I have learned over my many, many attempts to lose weight. However, it was not until this particular journey that I have really learned to take this to heart. Otherwise my mind would force me to stop and give up. Now those disappointments only spur me to keep going. Well, that is after I beat myself up and have a pity party. This is where my boyfriend comes into play. He always snaps me out of it and that is the best thing. It has helped me to acknowledge when I am feeling that way and then I can address it and work through it. Here is to reaching my mini goal next week. After that my mini goal is to lose 60 pounds. I got this!

Weigh-In Thursday: Week 43

Oh heck yes! I finally hit 55 total pounds lost! I am that much closer to hitting my next mini-goal of under 250 pounds. The working out that I have been doing at home and at school is really paying off. Man, maybe I should have started working out consistently sooner. However, I did not because I was focusing on the food that I was eating. That was the hard part about losing weight for me, or so I thought. I just know from my previous experiences with attempting to lose weight failed because I tried to make to many life changes at once. This time was going to be different though because I was going to focus on the food until 2016. That is when I decided that I would have the food part down and then I could add in the exercise portion once I had more energy and motivation.

This weeks meeting was all about using your weight watchers tools to help you succeed and stay on track. I have the monthly pass which allows me to use the online tools, the smartphone app, and attend meetings. This works out the best for me because if it wasn't for the meetings I would stop using the other tools. I have been able to stay on track because I have the e-tools and I can use the app anywhere I have an internet connection. It is the sum of everything that has helped me stay on plan and be as successful as I have been so far. My nest mini goal is so close I can almost taste it. Ha!

Weigh-In Thursday: Week 42

Wow this week flew by! I guess that is what happens since last week I weighed in on Saturday and this week I resumed my normal meeting schedule.

It has only been 5 days since my last weigh in and I was not expecting a loss at all. I ate like all of the chocolate in my house. I don't know why, I mean I was able to abstain from the kids' chocolate stash this whole time, but since I came back from my moms I have been a chocolate hound.

At least I have been tracking everything that I have been eating. Even when I go over my points. It doesn't matter, I still track it. I have no idea why I lost. I really expected to have a gain because of all of the chocolate that I have been eating. And when I say all of the chocolate I mean ALL OF IT! It has become a willpower kryptonite for me. Oh well, all I can do is just keep trucking. I got this! Here is to a better week on plan and my last semester of college starting on Monday.

This weeks meeting was all about Smart Points. Since the new year is beginning it is also the 'official' launch of Smart Points. You know, because of New Year's Resolutions and everything I am sure. I really hope that those who do join weight watchers for new years stick with it. It really works! I was also told by some of the members at the meetings that I go to that I should put my recipes online and share them. This is because I have a major sweet tooth and always find ways to add desserts to my plan. I hope to be able to add a recipe of the week, featuring one of my favorite Smart Points plan friendly foods.

Weigh-In Saturday: Week 41

What a way to bring in the new year! With a gain! Previously I would have beaten myself up about a gain, but it is a new year and I am not the woman I used to be. I enjoyed some good food, good company and even slept from 2015 to 2016! It was the first time in a long time that I actually went to bed before midnight and woke up bright and early to start the new year. I was on vacation and enjoying myself. I decided that I was not going to let the scale dictate my mood. My goal was to not gain so much that it dipped into my 50 pounds lost. I did just that! I may have gained 1.4 pounds but overall I have lost 51.4 pounds! That is the real victory. Here is to getting back on track for the new year and enjoying a healthier and more active 2016!

I know why I had a gain this week and I am not proud of it. I really want to blame it on my mom and the fact that she has candies and goodies literally everywhere. I love M&M's, I mean I LOVE them! I could pop them until they were gone and not even bat an eye. I also enjoyed my vacation and the food that I ate. While I tracked everything, I also did not let myself miss out on any food that sounded good. I enjoyed it and I know that this doesn't happen often. I did try to make better choices, but I also enjoyed a burger and fries at Jack in the Box. There are no Jack in the Boxes where I live and I was feeling nostalgic because I used to eat there as a kid. I enjoyed the food, but it was to much and it ended with me having a stomach ache. I guess I really don't eat that much greasy food in that large of proportions anymore. Oh well. Time to move on and get back on plan.

Weigh-In Saturday: Week 40

Merry Christmas! I have officially been with Weight Watchers for 10 months. I am super excited to reach this milestone because this is the longest that I have been able to stay on track and keep moving forward in this weight loss journey. It is also the most amount of time that I have kept up my blog. Sure I may be a week behind in posting, but at least I have not given up. I do know that this blog really keeps me sane and I find that the more I do it, the more it is easier to keep motivated and focused on my goal.
That being said, I am currently on vacation. My boyfriend and I are spending the holiday at my Moms' house in the city of sin. Well, actually we are in Henderson, Nevada, but you could practically throw a rock and hit the Las Vegas Strip from here. I also attended a Weight Watchers meeting here this morning and am pleased to announce that I lost 1.2 pounds over Christmas!!! I could not believe it! I even had a donut and a few beers on Christmas Eve! Yes, I did say donuts and beer. Ha! I mean it was the holidays and all.
Tomorrow we are driving out to Los Angeles for a few days. I am looking forward to some sightseeing and putting my feet in the ocean. Also, my boyfriend and I have the golf clubs in the trunk so that we can go golfing in the nice 65 degree California weather. There will be plenty of walking and loads of fresh seafood. I plan on tracking everything that I eat even if I go over my points, I am just going to enjoy my vacation and make sure that I am making healthier choices.

This weeks meeting we talked about planning for the holidays. My plan is just to try to enjoy the holidays, making healthy choices and I will be fine with whatever the scale says next week. Even if it is a gain because I have a week before spring semester starts that I can get back on track.

Weigh-In Thursday: Week 39

I know last week I mentioned that Weight Watchers was making HUGE changes to their system. They launched Beyond the Scale and I have just finished my first week on the new plan. I was apprehensive about the changes because Weight Watchers revamped their system and I was doing well with Points Plus. However, changes happen for a reason. I used this week to restart and treated it like my first week on the plan. This was I could throw out any preconceived notions I had.

Here are my takeaways from my first week of Beyond the Scale:

1. Lean protein has a lower Smart Points value. This week I was able to eat more meat with my meals and this caused me to snack less.

2. Sugar causes the Smart Points value to increase. This means that my 'go to' snacks, including mini candy bars, have an exponentially larger Smart Points value and while this saddened me it also forced me to make better choices when it came to raiding the candy bowl.

3. I miss swapping my activity points for a good lager. You can still activate a swap with fit points but it is not recommended. It has allowed me to challenge myself to get more fit points especially since they rack up faster than activity points did.

4. The decrease in weekly points allowance. It was only a 5 point difference for me, but that is the points of a good beer. On the plus side the Smart Points value of light beer decreased from 4 Points Plus to 3 Smart Points values. Also liquor decreased by a point as well. Yes!

5. The new emphasis on taking time out for yourself has proven invaluable. It really does a world of difference.

After my weigh in today I can say that I LOVE BEYOND THE SCALE! I dropped 4 pounds this week and have officially passed the 50 pounds lost mark!!! My next mini goal is to reach 249 pounds. I would love to reach this by the end of January. I also am 25 pounds away in order to meet my goal of losing 75 pounds in a year on Weight Watchers.

Weigh-In Thursday: Week 37

I am so close to my 50 pounds lost goal that I can taste it. Ha! Nice pun huh? Actually, I am really really excited about being so close. However, I know myself and I have a feeling that next week I will see a gain. This is due to the fact that I am going into finals week. Which means little sleep, lots of late nights, lots of coffee, and the late night snacking to keep myself awake.

It is okay though because after next week I will be done with fall semester. One semester left and I will have my Bachelors Degree. It is only one week and as long as I get back on track after finals everything will be okay. As long as I don't let it derail me, then I will call that a non-scale victory.

This weeks meeting was focused on getting in activity anywhere. Especially over the holidays. I made an action plan on how to get in activity over Christmas. My boyfriend and I will be going to Las Vegas for Christmas and we plan on doing quite a bit of walking on the strip. We will also be spending a few days in Los Angeles which means more walking and maybe even a golf excursion. Fingers crossed.

Apparently, Weight Watchers is making a huge plan change that will start next week. I am a little nervous because I feel like I have this plan down pat. However, since I have been so close to hitting my 50 pounds lost goal and maybe the changes will allow for that.

Weigh-In Friday: Week 36

With Thanksgiving and going to a different meeting I totally forgot to screen-grab my weekly weigh in. I actually lost 1.8 pounds over Thanksgiving! YES!!!

However, I was able to stick to my Thanksgiving plan, for the most part. I did cave and had a roll, but I spit it with my son. There is just something so comforting about a nice warm roll. I also only had one plate of food with 1/2 cup of everything I wanted and I did not feel deprived. I also only had water to drink and skipped on the pumpkin pie.

I also chose to attend a Friday meeting this week. Originally I was going to attend a Saturday meeting, but I figured it would be easier to stick to my plan if I knew I was going to weigh in the next day. In the meeting this week we talked about mind over matter. We talked about leftovers and the fact that people seem to eat more in leftovers than during the actual holiday meal. The only leftovers we took home was a turkey breast and the veggie sides that I took with me. I am actually planning on making a vegetable stir fry with turkey breast as well as turkey sandwiches.

Weigh-In Thursday: Week 35

Well, I gained this week.I kind of expected a gain this week due to the fact that I fell over the weekend and sprained my ankle quite badly. I am under strict orders to keep it elevated and to stay off of it as much as possible. It is also in a nice cast that you will get ti see when I post my progress pictures for this month. It was a bummer, I am in quite a bit of pain and I can not even put weight on my ankle.

I have also been staying up a little bit later and this leads to late night snacking. I have been eating cereal every night after dinner. Sometime I have points left over and sometimes I do not. At least I am still tracking everything I am eating even if that means I am tracking it the morning after. Late tracking is better than no tracking.

This weeks meeting was focused on the upcoming holiday, Thanksgiving. We talked about making plans about what we will eat now so we go into the holiday feast with a plan. I will be taking 2 vegetable side dishes and I will also be allowing myself to have 1/2 cup of everything else. I have also decided that I will skip my favorites. Rolls and candied yams. I will also be making plan friendly pumpkin cheesecake bars for dessert.

Next week, I will be weighing in on Friday. This is due to Thanksgiving being on Thursday and to help keep me on track. I have a great plan in place for surviving the holiday and I am excited to see how next week goes.

Weigh-In Thursday: Week 34

Well I tried to watch my sugar intake. It was quite hard and I wasn't as successful as I tried to be,  At least I limited myself to the mini versions of the candy bars. I skipped the fun-sized ones and went for the mini ones only. I actually expected a gain this week. I am still working on my plan restart, but I found myself snacking on candy in the wee hours of the night.

The topic this week was something I needed because I have been slacking on meal planing and planning my shopping trips. The topic this week was about being smart about going to the supermarket. Time to refocus on my meal plans because having meals planned makes the shopping trip easier. I am also going to make sure that I have a snack or a meal before shopping. Grocery shopping on an empty stomach is a recipe for disaster.

I am so close to hitting my 50 pound weight loss goal. I was hoping to hit that by Thanksgiving and that gives me 2 weeks to lose 2.6 pounds. I am not expecting to hit it, but I am hoping. I really need to focus.

Weigh-In Thursday: Week 33

Well the restart I completed this week totally got me back on track. I spent time planning meals and actually sticking to it. I was also able to curb some of my munchieness. I was more focused this week. That is what I needed because I felt like I was getting complacent with the plan and I was eating the 'same old things'.

At the meeting this week we talked about being more nutrition savvy because not all nutrients are equal. Even if something has the same amount of points the nutrition of it could be skewed. This week I will be working on cutting back on my intake of saturated fat and sugar, or at least trying to. The sugar thing is going to be a hard one due to the amount of Halloween candy that the kids have in the house right now. I plan on being smart about my choices and allowing myself to have some candy in order to keep me from binging on an entire bag due to deprivation.

Weigh-In Thursday: Week 32

I really expected more than just a 1.4 pound loss. Ever since I hit 45 pounds lost, I felt like I couldn't really loose much more. My body and my clothes (for that matter) was trying to keep me fat. And to think I (almost) gave up this week. Here are the reasons why I really wanted to 'throw in the towel':

  1. I was tired of tracking,
  2. I felt deprived of the 'bad' foods I wanted to eat.
  3. I was sick and had trouble keeping anything down.
  4. I was sabotaging myself.
I went threw my closet this week and purged everything that was either 2+ sizes too big, or simply not fashion able. This made me think that maybe I should stop losing weight so that I could fit into the clothes that I already owned (talk about self-sabotage) even though it was starting to be a hassle because all of my cure clothes are either too big (at least now they are) or too small (wishful thinking).

If it wasn't for my amazingly supportive boyfriend I would have cancelled my membership and given up altogether. He is the best because even when I am feeling weak and like I am done with everything; he believes in me. He believes in how far I have come and he knows that I am just looking for any reason to give up. I love him so much for being my 'realistic rock' and not letting me give up because I have been hosting a pity party for myself. He believes in me, even when I don't believe in myself.

I have decided that I needed to start over. After my meeting concluded this week I attended a "new member meeting" which I really needed. I am starting fresh with the plan hoping to overcome this everlasting weight loss plateau and to overcome even my own expectations. Here is to a new week and a re commitment to the plan. I will not let small 'missteps' determine my future success. I got this! My next mini goal is to reach 45 pounds lost (again).

Weigh-In Thursday: Week 31

Another gain this week and I can't say I'm really that surprised. I kind of want to consider this a plateau, even though it is really just me slipping from staying on plan. I ate a lot of things I shouldn't have, in greater amounts, and without tracking it. If that isn't a recipe for disaster than I don't know what is.

I tried a little harder this week, but then the weekend came and went. I guess I didn't try as hard as I thought I did. I am happy with the small gain, not even 1/2 a pound. I am still in midterms and the stress has not helped much. I am done making excuses it is time to own up to my actions and keep on trucking. I can do this! Here is to a better week next week! I only have one more midterm to complete and then I am done with the 'hard' stuff until end of November beginning of December. Time to get back on track.
